What is VPK?
VPK is a state-funded early education program designed to prepare children for kindergarten and build the foundation for lifelong learning. Florida’s VPK program provides 540 instructional hours over the school year, with 3 hours per day of high-quality learning. This ensures your child receives focused instruction while still having plenty of time for play and exploration.
VPK Eligibility and Enrollment
- If your child turns 4 years old by September 1st of the school year, they are eligible for Florida’s free VPK program.

In the VPK program, children develop essential skills such as:
- Early literacy and language development
- Basic math concepts and problem-solving skills
- Social and emotional growth
- Gross and fine motor development
